Why ratify events
and captures?
To date there
has not been a true record of the big carp that get caught
around the world, and no one makes sure that large international
carp angling events are run and organised properly, and
also represent "true" carp fishing as opposed
to standard match fishing.
Statistics
need to be kept and claims need to be properly made if they
are to be accepted as true records. By bringing in a standard
format for anglers to follow we can keep records of the
big fish that are caught around the world and make official
decisions as to whether their catpure justifies holding
a record.
With
competitions and events the competitor can be assured that
if an event has the ICFA ratification, that it will be run
to a high standard, represent the spirit of competition
carp fishing not just match fishing, and that any prizes
will be awarded as promised.
